Yankee Trails World Travel cut the ribbon and officially opened Friday afternoon. The company specialize in cruises, bus tours and charters and all-inclusive land vacations.

“With our cruises we guarantee the lowest price and we offer free round trip transportation to the pier,” said Steve Tobin, president.

Many Villagers already know the office manager Julie Burns. She has been in travel for 30 years, spending the last 10 years at Ocala Travel before moving over to manage the new Yankee Trails World Travel office.

A festive open house was held to celebrate the new Yankee Trails office. Many that attended had already traveled with Yankee Trails.

“We kept hearing from our New York customers that we needed to come down here,” said Tobin. For the last couple of years, they have explored the area building up clientele by having a booth at the Cruise In events in Spanish Springs.

That is how Mary Ann Krish and Jay Coons discovered Yankee Trails. They booked a tour along with 16 neighbors.

“It was great. We were very pleased,” said Krish. “They are very service oriented.”

Yankee Trails Business Development Manager Ed Finkle has been with the company for more than 10 years. He is available to speak to groups and clubs to introduce the company and he also is the person that sets up specialized tours. He can be reached 518-879-2559.

Yankee Trails was started 60 years ago by John Tobin and his wife. Their seven children now are also in the business. “Pretty much if you are in the family you have to have your bus license,” said Tobin one of the seven siblings. The company has continued to grow and now is Yankee Trails World Travel. As a company they are the second largest group purchaser of Yankee baseball tickets.

They have several day trips already planned including the Christmas lights in St. Augustine and lunch cruises on the St. John’s River. They plan to add a lot more next year, including sporting events.
