Charles Edward Reed, 63, The Villages, FL died Friday, May 31, 2013. Charley, as known to friends, was born on Staten Island, NY, moved to Middletown, NJ in 1987, and relocated to the Villages in 2009. He held a Bachelors Degree from College of Staten Island and a Masters from Mercy College. Charley worked for Con Edison of NY for 36 years, retiring as a Senior Planning Analyst. He served in the US Navy. An avid NY Yankees fan, world traveler, and trivia enthusiast, Charley read sixty books on average each year. He loved every minute of his time in the Villages, participating in many clubs including the Golf Cart Drill Team, Yankees club, the Branchers, and volunteered for Operation Shoebox, sending care packages to active soldiers overseas. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lee Ann; his son Corey; daughters Kimberly and Kristy; daughter in law Nellie; brother Michael; a nephew and twin grandsons. A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 3 – 7pm at Beyers Funeral Home in Lady Lake, FL. Funeral services will be held at Harmon Funeral Home and Sacred Heart Church in Staten Island, NY.
