John Westley Dever, 73, of The Villages, Florida was born February 13, 1940 in Cumberland, Maryland and died June 3, 2013 in The Villages, Florida. Mr. Dever was a graduate of Allegany High School, Class of 1958 in Cumberland, Maryland and a US Army Reservist for 8 years. Along with his wife, he owned Dever and Associates in Maryland for 40 years, and became a full time resident of The Village, Florida in 2011 where he was a member of The First Baptist Church at The Villages. He had a love for “old cars” and gospel music and enjoyed golf and travel. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by: his wife of 52 years Vickie of The Villages, Florida; son Michael W. Dever of Oakland, Maryland; 2 grandsons: Blake and Braden Dever, both of Oakland, Maryland; sister Marie Gaskins of Suffolk, Virginia; brother Thomas Dever of Cumberland, Maryland; and was preceded in death by his daughter Lisa Dever O’Brien in 2006.
