In response to the Supreme Court striking down the heart of the 1965 law:
We support the right of every American to vote. Underhanded trickery and obstructive requirements for voting have no place in a democracy. The basis of the United States of America is that everyone has an equal chance to participate by voting.
There is no question in anyone’s mind that there is still flagrant bigotry in our country. Things may LOOK a little different from how they were in the 1960’s but there remains a very solid core of racism in the hearts of the powerful. It’s been hard for conservatives to come to terms with the changing demographic of the nation, but the facts are that the old European descendants are no longer the dominant inhabitants of this great nation. Chill out and get with the times, for the times they are a’changin’.
