Robert D Rote, 80, of The Villages, Florida passed away August 4, 2013 at The Villages , Florida . He was born on December 2, 1932 in Guthrie County , Iowa . Robert proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and in the Army National Guard of Iowa. He was a police officer in Des Moines, Iowa for 26 years. Mr. Rote moved to The Villages ten years ago from Iowa. 

Robert enjoyed playing golf, fishing, and woodworking.
Robert is survived by his wife, Helen Rote ,The Villages, FL; daughter, Robin D. Helton , Chamberlain, SD; son, Robert D. Rote, Jr., California, MD; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A time of remembrance will be at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services – The Villages on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. with a gathering of family and friends to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project,www.woundedwarriorproject.com or Special Olympics, 1133 19th Street NW, Washington, DC 20036.
