Uh oh, for Congressman Ted Yoho? Comments go viral

U.S. Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Gainesville, is suddenly drawing a lot of national attention, but not for the reasons he might find desirable.

His comments questioning the authenticity of the President Barack Obama’s birth certificate and declaring as “racist” a tanning bed tax that’s part of the Affordable Care Act are getting attention.

Yoho represents portions of Lake and Marion counties. He upset long-serving Congressman Cliff Stearns last year in the GOP primary. He has become a darling of the Tea Party.

Yoho talked about the farm bill, the federal deficit and the Defense of Marriage Act, this past Saturday at Gainesville’s Countryside Baptist Church.

Audio recordings of his comments went up online and the response included headlines such as “House GOPer Ted Yoho goes birther” on Salon.com and “Rep. Ted Yoho: Tanning tax is a racist tax — against white people” on the Washington Post web site.

You can judge for yourself. Check out the link below.
