Only one week away from opening day of softball season

By Sal Riggio

Ask most softball players in The Villages when they take their vacations, and they will most likely tell you, “In between softball seasons”.  Such is the life of the well over two thousand who participate in the eleven male and female Recreation Department and Neighborhood Leagues, and many other independent leagues such as the Central Florida League, the Restricted Bat League, and the Classic League.  As stated at The Villages website, “The Villages Softball Program is the premiere senior softball league in the United States! The goals of The Villages Softball Program are exercise, fellowship, and friendly competition.”
The Senior Boys and Girls of Summer will celebrate its Opening Day for the Fall 2013 Season on September 4th.
