Josephine “Josie” (Messore) Rose, age 95, died peacefully on August 27, 2013 at Cornerstone Hospice, The Villages, FL. She resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Lynne and Louis Sisto prior to her illness. Before moving to Florida. several years ago, she was a life long resident of Mechanicville, NY where she was born. She was born on April 28, 1918, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Allesandra Romanelli Messore.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband Nicholas A. Rose who passed away May 31, 2000. They were married 60 years. Prior to her marriage she worked for Kay Dunhill Dress Company and later years at the Stillwater Knitting Mill until her retirement in 1966.
She is survived by her loving children, Lawrence (Ann Marie) Rose of Saratoga Springs, NY and The Villages, FL; Ronald (Helen) Rose of Mechanicville, NY and Lynne (Louis) Sisto, The Villages, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren, G. Raymond (Bridget) Rose, Lawrence (Sherri) Rose, Laureen (John) Haviland, Lynne (David) Forchielli and Nicholas (Bronwyn) Rose and great-grandchildren, Lauren, Amanda, Christopher, Olivia, Emily and Nicholas Rose, Stephen and Nicole Forchielli, Nina and Anna Haviland. She also leaves her beloved brother, Thomas Messore and dear sister-in-law and closest friend, Frances Messore of Stillwater, NY. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Dominick and Michael Messore and sister Mary Messore. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and godchild Agnes Woodin.
She was a very caring person who was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and playing cards and games at the Recreation Centers in The Villages. She made scrapbooks for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed corresponding with family and friends. She was a two-time cancer survivor and had an incredible spirit and will and a generous, giving heart. She was known as “Mom” to her Village friends who became family to her. She will be dearly missed by all.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
