‘Good Samaritan’ critically injured on I-75 in Sumter County

A Good Samaritan has hit by a vehicle early Thanksgiving morning after he had stopped to render aid to individuals involved in a separate traffic crash on Interstate 75 near the 319 Milepost in Sumter County.

The accident happened at 5:26 a.m. this morning when Christopher Eric Jenkins, 37, of Sarasota, was struck by a vehicle driven by Joseph Farrell, 41, also of Sarasota, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.  The report indicated Farrell did not see Jenkins in time to avoid hitting him.

Jenkins suffered critical injuries in the collision and was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center for treatment.
