Popular Villages cyclist Diana Mirkin had a pin put in her hip Monday following a weekend bicycle accident.
Diana Mirkin of the Village of Bridgeport at Laurel Valley had been riding a tandem bicycle with her husband, Dr. Gabe Mirkin, in the We Bike For Kids ride Saturday morning on a rural road near the Girl Scout Camp in Oxford.
She and her husband had been riding their tandem when they hit a rough patch of road with loose gravel.
It had been feared she would have to have a total hip replacement.
“This will shorten rehab time significantly,” said Gabe Mirkin.
