James Stanley Mikol

James Stanley Mikol, of The Villages, Florida, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours Saturday, March 15, 2014. Jim lived a life full of laughter and love starting in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada on June 11, 1938. Leaving home as a teenager to chase his dreams to become a professional hockey player, Jim played for many minor league teams before making it to the NHL and playing for The New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs. Being blessed with his athleticism, Jim then became a PGA Professional managing golf courses in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, North Carolina and Florida. Jim loved to spend his free time with his beloved wife, family, friends and teaching his grandchildren how to golf. Even on the Friday before his passing, he was on the golf course with his buddies, probably giving them all instructions on how to hit the ball longer, chip better or putt straighter. Jim is lovingly remembered by his wife Janet Mikol, his two daughters Sharon Mikol, Kim Mikol Strong, his son-in-law Robert Strong and his three grandchildren, Robert Alexander Strong, Camille Strong and Chloe Strong. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and his loving sister, Sister Janet Mikol from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. A Celebration of his Life will be held on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Savannah Center located at 1545 Buena Vista Blvd in The Villages, Florida starting at 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Jim would want family and friends to gather to celebrate his life and tell fun stories. Guests are asked to come dressed in causal attire (no black please).
