To the Editor:
On Friday 9/926 my husband and I took three prescriptions to the Walgreens on Parr Drive. Since we have mail order coverage, we only fill his pain medicine locally (controlled prescriptions). We were advised by the manager/Pharmacist that since we only fill prescriptions for pain medicine (controlled substances) at Walgreens, they are refusing to fill these prescriptions for us any longer, under a Corporate change in policy. We called Corporate only to find out that the local store makes this type of policy. We asked to have a senior executive call us in this regard. A customer service representative told us she would take the message but it was unlikely that we would hear from any executive since the issue was a policy set by a local store. I believe this is an attempt to discourage us from using mail order which saves us and our plan a great deal of money. Local fills are more expensive and apparently Walgreens is not willing to share the income or help customers save money.
