Senator David Hume Baker (1841-1917) served in the Civil War as a first lieutenant in the 12th Kentucky Calvary (Union). After the war he moved to Florida and served in the Florida Senate. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
A dedicated band of volunteers, including Gidget Gibson, have been working to restore the Baker House over the past few years.
New porches for the back of the main house and kitchen house are complete thanks in large part to money raised through last year’s tours. PSL Construction also lent its support to the project.
