Temperatures in The Villages swimming pools will stay where they are, averaging 83 degrees.

Last month, residents complained to the Amenity Authority Committee that pools are too cold, particularly for those with conditions such as arthritis.

AAC Chair Ann Forrester had asked that District staff look into the complaints and possibly raise the temperature in the pools north of County Road 466.

District property manager Sam Wartinbee reported Wednesday morning that $120,000 was spent heating the pools last winter.

He said that it would cost $14,000 for every degree the temperatures in the pools would be raised.

The pools are kept between 82 and 84 degrees, averaging 83 degrees, Wartinbee said.

AAC members agreed to keep the pools at the current temperature.
