A 60-year-old Villager was arrested after he was tasered by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies in the Village of Palo Alto.
Deputies had been called to a postal station Friday night in the Village of Palo Alto after receiving a report of a Villager who may have been using methamphetamine.
There the deputies found William John Verticelli who became combative. The deputies followed Verticelli to a residence where Verticelli refused to obey commands from deputies. Verticelli was tasered, but still managed to strike one of the deputies in the chest, according to the arrest report.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $12,000.
