A 46-year-old Wildwood man was arrested on a felony charge of driving under the influence Monday night by a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy.
Delmar John Hearns had been driving at 11:42 p.m. in the vicinity of U.S. 301 and County Road 466 without a tag light on his vehicle when he was pulled over.
Hearns told the deputy he had consumed three 12-ounce beers about two hours prior to the traffic stop, according to the arrest report.
Hearns failed field sobriety exercises.
A check revealed that he had been convicted of driving under the influence in 1993 and 2012 and that his license was currently revoked. The check also revealed that he had refused to submit to a breath test in 2006 and 2012.
He was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where bond was set at $6,500.
