Former VHS football standout forfeits bond, wanted for arrest

Former Villages High School football standout Nigel Barker has forfeited $3,000 bond posted in June and is now wanted for arrest.

Barker failed to show up in Lake County Court last week and a warrant for his arrest was issued by Judge Donna F. Miler.

The 21-year-old was arrested in June after he allegedly battered the mother of his child after an argument over a packet of doughnuts.

According to court records, Barker has been ordered to have no contact with the victim. The arrest affidavit indicated she was reluctant to say or do anything that would get Barker in trouble. Her mother called police on the day of the alleged incident.

Barker, who had been a member of the VHS Class of 2012, played running back and corner back for the Buffalo.
