A Villager is free on $20,000 bond following his arrest Saturday night on a drunk driving charge in a golf cart on the Historic Side of The Villages.

Steven G. Laflamme of 1705 Pebble Beach Lane was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Saturday on charges of driving under the influence and driving while license suspended for DUI.

Laflamme’s golf cart had failed to stop at the intersection of Paradise Drive and Aloha Way, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The officer noted the Laflamme’s speech was slurred and it appeared he had been drinking.

When asked if he had been drinking, Laflamme responded that he had had two beers, the arrest report indicated.

Laflamme failed field sobriety exercises and refused to provide a breath sample. He was booked at the Lake County Jail.

Laflamme had been arrested in 2009 on a charge of hit and run and driving while license suspended.

In 2011 and 2012, he was arrested for violating his probation.
