Tractor trailer load of wood catches fire, closing I-75 in Sumter County

A tractor trailer load of wood caught fire early Tuesday morning, shutting down the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Sumter County.

The fire broke out at 4:50 a.m. at Mile Marker 322 in a truck driven by Javier Salvidor, 63, of Citrus Springs, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Salvidor pulled to the side of the road and attempted to extinguish the fire himself but was unsuccessful and the entire load became engulfed in flames.

Salvidor escaped injury.
