The Villages Antique Automobile Club and the Village Vettes displayed their toys at the grand ppening of Advance Auto Parts Saturday. The brand new store, located on County Road 466 opened its doors to the public with free hot dogs, hamburgers, door prizes and giveaways.
Alan Stone, Special Events Coordinator for TVAAC set up a kiosk he created to raise money for Juvenile Diabetes which has been a national fundraising project of Advance Auto Parts for years. The company has raised over 42 million dollars so far for the JDRF.
“I am so grateful to the businesses that are supporting our charities. Advance Auto Parts has been fantastic and coming up next year, we will have a huge benefit for Special Olympics at Grand Oaks,” Stone said.
Rich and Paige Udell from the Village of Winifred brought their brand “new” 34 Ford Coupe to the event. “We have only had the car about 3 days.” Udell said. “We drove up to St Louis to get it. It has been sitting in a garage since 2010.”
Nick Williams, Store Manager for the new store at 4147 W. County 466, Oxford, was happy to see so many cars show up, even under a threat of rain. He was right to worry. The skies darkened and opened up around 1:30, scattering the club members into their cars and heading home.
With over 5,200 stores and serving approximately 1,300 independently owned Carquest branded stores in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands, Advance Auto Parts Team Members work hard to give back to the communities in which they live and work.
