A 58-year-old Summerfield man arrested in an alleged attack on his wife last month, is now facing a charge of violating his probation.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies had been called last month to a home on SE 99th Terrace where Walter Ayala allegedly had been involved in an altercation with his wife. The pair had been arguing at the front door of the residence when Ayala’s hand went through the screen door and struck the woman in the face, according to an arrest report from the sherif’s office. He then grabbed the woman by the arm and pushed her to the ground, the arrest report indicated.

Now he is charged with violating his probation in Lake County.

Ayala was sentenced in 2013 in Lake County Court to four years probation after pleading no contest to a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

He was booked without bond Thursday at the Lake County Jail.
