The driver of an automobile was ticketed after a near miss with a motorcyclist at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the roundabout at Morse Boulevard and Lake Sumter Landing.
The car violated the right of way of the motorcycle in the roundabout, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. There was no collision, but the near miss forced the motorcyclist to lose his balance. The driver of the automobile was ticketed on a charge of failure to yield. There were no injuries.
With the return of snowbirds and roadways in The Villages becoming much more congested, roundabouts can be a challenge.
The Sumter County Board of County Commissioners in cooperation with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office has developed an educational guide to navigating roundabouts in Sumter County. For a full explanation about roundabouts, you can click HERE
