A 22-year-old former cleaning lady in The Villages is likely to spend Christmas behind bars after a string of arrests this year.

Bond for Abigail Lorraine Bowles has been revoked and she was booked Monday at the Marion County Jail.

Bowles had been terminated from her cleaning position in early October by a resident of the Village of Sunset Pointe. She was arrested after she allegedly stole jewelry  from the Villager and pawned it. When she was taken into custody on Oct. 4 by Sumter County sheriff’s deputies, Bowles said she was extremely sorry and had been “struggling to survive.” You can read more about that arrest HERE.

While Bowles was free on bond after her first arrest, she allegedly used the client’s Citizens First Bank card and ran up charges on Oct. 26, 28 and 29 at Wal-Mart, Dollar General and Circle K.

When asked why she had used the Villager’s bank card, Bowles responded, “Because I’m an idiot,” according to the arrest report.

She had been free on bond after that arrest, but on Dec. 7, the state attorney’s office filed court papers to revoke her bond.

Bowles is due back in court for a status conference on Jan. 5. She is relying on the public defender’s office for representation.
