86-year-old Ohio man killed after colliding with vehicle

An 86-year-old Ohio man was killed Tuesday afternoon after colliding with another vehicle in Osceola County.

Robert Amstadt, 86, of Beachwood, Ohio was behind the wheel of a 2017 Ford Escape while stopped on Storey Lake Road facing north at the intersection of Osceola Parkway, while Kevin Cruz, 22, of Kissimmee was traveling east on Osceola Parkway in a 2016 Nissan sedan, approaching the intersection of Storey Lake Road, according to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report. Amstadt attempted to make a left turn to travel west Osceola Parkway, but traveled into the direct path of Cruz’s vehicle, the report stated. The front of Cruz’s vehicle struck the left side of Amstadt’s vehicle.

Amstadt was transported to Osceola Regional Hospital where he later died. Cruz was taken to Celebration Hospital after suffering serious injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
