A 23-year-old Sumter County woman was killed early Tuesday morning in a wrong-way collision in Hernando County.

Laura Billingsley of Webster had been at the wheel of a 2013 Kia Optima at 1 a.m. on State Road 50 when her vehicle was struck head on by a 2011 Dodge Charger driven by Tony Lavon Warthen of Brooksville, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. He was also killed.

Billingsley and Warthen were both pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Debris from the crash struck a 2013 Hyundai Elantra driven by Sara Grace Huff, 24, of Orlando.

It is unknown where Warthen began driving in the wrong direction, the report indicated.

Billingsley is the second Sumter County woman to be killed in an accident over the extended Fourth of July holiday weekend. Kellie Marie Powell of Lake Panasoffkee died in an accident on Monday.
