Blown tire prompts semi to jackknife on Interstate 75 in Alachua County

A truck driver escaped serious injury when a blown tire prompted his semi to jackknife Sunday afternoon on Interstate 75 in Alachua County.

The semi, driven by 37-year-old Jayson Westberry of Daytona Beach, was traveling south shortly after noon Sunday when the truck’s front right steering tire blew while driving, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The semi then hit a ditch ditch causing it to overturn onto its side. Westberry suffered minor injuries in the crash.
