A new resident of The Villages who recently had back surgery is free on bond following his arrest last week on a charge of driving under the influence.

Mark Steven Healy, 63, who provided an address on East Schwartz Boulevard on the Historic Side of The Villages, had been driving an SUV shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday. A Lady Lake police officer noticed the SUV had turned south into the northbound lanes of traffic of Avenida Central.

Healy provided a New York driver’s license to the officer, but could not produce the vehicle’s registration or insurance information.

Healy initially told the officer he had come from Margarita Republic, but then said he was coming from City Fire, according to the arrest report.

Healy said he recently had neck and back surgery and could not participate in field sobriety exercises. He refused to provide a breath sample.

He was booked at the Lake County Jail and released after posting $500 bond.
