Woman locks herself, baby in bathroom after alleged attack by man in Wildwood

A woman locked herself and her baby in a bathroom after an alleged attack by a man in Wildwood.

The woman got into an argument with 38-year-old Leshay Dion Williams early Friday morning at their residence in the 1200 block of High Street, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. The argument broke out after Williams ate all of the couple’s food.

As the woman walked by with the couple’s 1-year-old child to change the baby’s diaper, Leshay slapped her in the mouth. He proceeded to approach her while screaming at her. She grabbed a kitchen pot to defend herself before locking herself in the bathroom and calling police.

Williams was arrested on charges of battery and cruelty toward a child.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $1,000 bond.
