Gates are an asset to The Villages

To the Editor:

I have a completely different view on the gates in The Villages.  I believe the gates are an asset to our community and add safety to all our lives.  We are not just a community of automobiles, a major part of our lives is traveling by golf carts and crossing those roads where the gates are located.  I can’t tell you how many times I almost got t-boned in my golf car by people ignoring the so called stop sign where the bars were done.  People were speeding through those gates, paying no attention or having any courtesy towards golf carts trying to cross the road.  The gates serve a valuable purpose.  They control traffic, provide safety, and I believe monitor who comes and goes in The Villages with the video cameras.  I for one am very glad they are there.
