The Villages gates are senseless

To the Editor:

I totally agree that the gates are senseless here.  Thieves can drive in with no card.  They simply pull up at the visitors’ path.  Even without saying anything, the gates for them will open!  I can see that the gates are a selling point but the fact is, once (if ever) the builder leaves, the gates will come down because The Villages streets are public streets, not private.
