Glenn Wesley Bowen

Glenn Wesley Bowen

Glenn Wesley Bowen, from Fruitland Park, Sebring and Ocklawaha, Fl, went home on Thursday, Nov 16, 2017. Glenn was born on June 27, 1944 to Betty Green Bowen and Grady Bowen.

From the age of nine he was raised by his mother and stepfather, John H. (Red) Osborne, Jr. in Fruitland Park. Glenn had the privilege of growing up with a sister, Jean Bowen Smart (Lady Lake), and 7 brothers, Robert (Bobby) Bowen (Lady Lake), Larry Bowen (Plant City), Joe Bowen (deceased), Ray Osborne (Bushnell), Billy Osborne (Lake Mary), David Osborne (deceased) and Randy Osborne (Lady Lake).

He attended and graduated from Leesburg High School in 1963. He served in the army from 1964 through 1966. At the end of his service to our country he began working for the railroad. Glenn married Linda Dianne Gray in 1970. Glenn was also County Commissioner in 1974 and a volunteer firefighter of Lady Lake. In early 1975, Glenn was transferred to Sebring, Florida as an Amtrak Agent, therefore, moving his family, wife Linda and their three sons, Keith Wesley, Robert Glenn and John Charles (Charlie) to Sebring, Florida. Glenn worked at the Sebring Florida Train Station as an Amtrak Agent until retirement in 2002.

Upon retirement Glenn moved to Ocklawaha, Fl. to be closer to the Ocala National Forest; that is where his heart is. He realized his dream of having a hunt camp where all his buddies could spend hunting season together. Relaxing evenings could be spent around the camp fire rehashing the old stories and a few new ones. Glenn was an avid hunter, and outdoorsman. He loved spending time outdoors with his family and close friends. He was also a fisherman for fish and for the Lord. He was a respectful, kindhearted man who always went above and beyond for anyone. His most common saying was “Thank You Kindly” for he was a grateful man.

Glenn has seven grandchildren. Robert Glenn’s children; Kayla, Kendell, Kylee, Connor and Caleb. Charlie’s children; Haley and Wyatt. Glenn will be joining his family members in heaven, including his son Keith Wesley (passed away on October 26th, 1991), and brothers, Joe Bowen and David Osborne.
