Crews moving rapidly after sinkholes discovered at Trailwinds Village

Work crews from Foundation Services have been hard at work filling a number of voids recently discovered under the roads in the new Trailwinds Village on County Road 466A in Wildwood.

A ground survey was conducted after a sinkhole was discovered near the new lift station in the development which includes a Lowe’s home improvement store.

Crews were hard at work Wednesday at Trailwinds Village.

The sinkhole also caused problems with road drainage.

Workmen indicated the road repair work may take another week depending on the amount of concrete needed to fill the voids.

Sections of the development’s roads were temporarily closed to through traffic while repairs were continuing. Construction of the new stores in the development has not yet been impacted.

A sinkhole is seen on property at Trailwinds Village that backs up to homes in The Villages.

Repair of the sinkhole which has damaged the lift station is not scheduled until sometime next week. There is an issue as to who is responsible for those repairs.

The Wildwood Commission stressed the importance of addressing the situation in a meeting earlier this week.
