A family of three and their dog escaped injury early Monday morning when flames erupted in a nearby automobile and threatened to burn their mobile home.
Units from Ocala Fire Rescue were dispatched to the 2200 block of NW 31st Avenue at 6 a.m. after a call came in of a vehicle fire. While en route, firefighters were advised that a mobile home was being threatened by the fire as well.
When the crew from Engine 3 arrived, they found a Chrysler automobile fully engulfed in flames. They quickly began suppressing the fire, starting from the area closest to the home and working their way around the vehicle.
Crews entered the structure to verify there was no extension of fire and found the corner stud behind the exterior flashing smoldering. Exposing that area, they used approximately 30 gallons of water to cool down the flashing.
There were no injuries.
