Confusion over a social media post had many Belleview High School parents up in arms Thursday.
The issue came to light when a woman called the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to report that her juvenile daughter had told her about a social media post regarding a potential shooting at the high school. The woman told a deputy she also had spoken with several other concerned parents.
After checking into the situation, a sheriff’s sergeant was able to determine that the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office in Bastrop, La., had arrested a female who had hacked into another person’s Facebook page and wrote a post about a potential shooting at Bastrop High School. The sergeant confirmed that the owner of the Facebook page lives in Louisiana and the post was for the high school there, which has the same initials – BHS – as Belleview High School.
The deputy then made contact with all the concerned parents and explained the situation to them, the report says.
