Family with recipe for success reportedly taking over Lopez country club

A family that seems to have found the recipe for success when it comes to running restaurants in The Villages is reportedly taking over Nancy Lopez Country Club.

The Suleiman family is poised to take over the country club, which bears the name of the LPGA legend.

The restaurant will close for up to five weeks as the Suleimans put their personal stamp on the venue.

It is being sold by John McDonough and the business, which includes Legacy restaurant, catering and special events, as well as the Oasis Grill at the pool, has reportedly been generating more than $3 million in annual revenue.

Employees were said to have been told about the change in ownership.

No one can question the tremendous success the Suleimans have enjoyed in Florida’s Friendliest Hometown.

The Suleiman family includes, from left, David, Nate, George and Joe. Jack Suleiman is not pictured.

Two years ago they took over a languishing location at Spanish Springs Town Square and opened the Greek-styled Amerikanos Grille. It’s been a hit.

Last year, they took over Havana Country Club, which had been plagued for years by reviews from boring and unimaginative to overpriced and poorly staffed. Today, Havana Country Club is thriving again.

The Suleimans also operate Johnny Rockets and RedSauce in Lake Sumter Landing.

“The biggest thing we teach our staff is that the people who come in here aren’t just customers; they’re friends and family,” George Suleiman told Villages-News.com in a previous interview.
