Anthony ‘Tony’ DiMare

Anthony (Tony) DiMare, age 77, of The Villages, FL, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018. He was a recent resident of North Ridgeville, Ohio and long-time homeowner in Westlake, Ohio. He and his wife Ruth also are residents of The Villages, Florida. Tony is survived by his wife, Ruth Razem DiMare, his beloved son John, grandchildren Hannah, Aaron, Brandon, Max, and Miranda (deceased) and numerous cousins. He was born in Conneaut, Ohio, to John and Clara (Gustaferro) DiMare both deceased. He married Ruth, his high school sweetheart and love of his life in 1964.

Tony graduated from Conneaut High School and The Ohio State University. He served with the Ohio National Guard for six years as a member of the 107th Armored Cavalry.

His first employer in 1963 was the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland in the Bank Examination Department. He then joined Capital National Bank in 1969, which was purchased by BancOhio and later purchased by National City Bank in 1984. He retired from National City in 2007 as a Senior Vice President in Commercial Lending. In 2008 when retired and on a golf course in Florida, a Cleveland Public company called and requested he aid them in a special project which prompted the formation of AJ DiMare & Associates, Inc. which enabled Tony to consult for both public and private companies. His last employer was First Niagara Bank where for a four-year period he consulted with their Cleveland Office and served as a Senior Relationship Manager until July 2016.

Tony enjoyed golfing with his wife Ruth and buddies, bocce with his many friends in The Villages, walking, reading, tennis, gardening and making his own Amarone style red wine with grapes and juice from Italy.

He was a member of the Northern Ohio Italian American Foundation and Benvenuto Americans of Italian Heritage in The Villages, Florida. He joined each entity at their inception as both organizations were active in charitable endeavors. His wonderful marriage to Ruth enabled him to enjoy great cooking, being Pa to his grandchildren, traveling, especially to Italy and his banking career with the most amazing clients.

A gathering will be held on Monday, September 10, 2018 from 10 – 11 a.m. with mass to follow at 11 a.m., located at St. Ladislas Parish, 2345 Bassett Rd, Westlake, OH 44145. Burial in Conneaut, Ohio will be private.

A memorial reception will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018, located at Baldwin Brothers, 3990 E. SR 44, Ste. 105, Wildwood, Florida 34785.
