85-year-old calls sheriff’s deputy after wallet goes missing at Publix in The Villages

A Summerfield man called a Marion County sheriff’s deputy Sunday afternoon after his wallet went missing in The Villages.

The 85-year-old man, who lives just outside The Villages in the 9300 block of SE 163rd Street, said the wallet/money clip was lost sometime around 3 p.m. at the Mulberry Grove Plaza shopping center. The man’s 58-year-old son, who also lives just outside The Villages off County Road 42, said his father realized the wallet was missing after shopping at Publix. He said it possibly was lost in the grocery store’s parking lot, a sheriff’s office report states.

The man’s son said they made contact with Publix employees but as of Sunday afternoon, no one had turned in the lost wallet. He said they left their contact information just in case it was turned in later.
