Rainey Villas man arrested after alleged sex with teen he met on Plenty of Fish

Russell James Stiles

A Rainey Villas man was arrested Tuesday morning after alleged sexual activity with a teen he met on Plenty of Fish.

Russell James Stiles, 24, met the 16-year-old on Sunday on the dating website, www.POF.com, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The New York native picked her up at her place of employment and took her to his home at 2269 Whisper St. where he engaged in an “unlawful act of sexual activity on two separate and distinct occasions with the juvenile female,” the report said.

The sheriff’s office began investigating the case on Monday and conducted recorded interviews with both Stiles and the 16-year-old.

He was arrested on two counts of sexual assault. He is also charged with utilizing a two-way communications device in order to facilitate a felony.

He was being held on $25,000 bond at the Sumter County Detention Center.

The property tax bill for the home at 2269 Whisper St. is mailed to a couple residing in Campbell Hall, N.Y. They purchased the villa in June, according to records on file with the Sumter County Property Appraiser’s Office.
