Sumter County woman and boyfriend killed in motorcycle crash

Chiane Pridgen

A Sumter County woman and her boyfriend were killed in a motorcycle crash Thursday night in Orange County.

Chiane Pridgen, 21, had been riding as a passenger on a 2010 Suzuki motorcycle being driven by 24-year-old James Sembower of Casselberry, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The motorcycle had been traveling “at a high rate of speed” when it failed to slow for a 2019 Toyota Camry driven by Keith Wilkins of New York. The motorcycle struck the rear of the Camry and Pridgen and Sembower were thrown from the motorcycle.

As Pridgen was laying in the roadway, she was run over by a 2019 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Don Nix of Oviedo, the report said.

Both Pridgen and Sembower were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Pridgen was identified in the report as a resident of Ocala, but has also lived in Bushnell.
