Village of Fernandina man jailed after found sleeping in front yard on Micro Racetrack Road

Larry Carter

A Village of Fernandina man was jailed after he was found sleeping in his vehicle, which was parked in the front yard of a residence on Micro Racetrack Road.

A homeowner reported a “suspicious vehicle” that led to the discovery of 70-year-old Larry Carter, who was sleeping in his dark gray Toyota utility vehicle, according to an arrest report from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Carter told the deputy that he was “tired” and decided to pull over and sleep. He also admitted he had been drinking earlier in the evening. When Carter stepped out of the vehicle, “he was barely able to stand without falling over,” the  deputy wrote in the report.

Carter was arrested on a charge of disorderly intoxication. He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $250 bond.
