On Friday, President Trump signed into law a two-week extension of government funding, which was set to expire on December 7 but will now expire on December 21.
This two-week extension was to accommodate the changes in schedule in Washington surrounding the passing of President Bush.
While all sides were able to agree on moving the deadline to accommodate the activities of last week, we still have very real challenges ahead to agree on a responsible budget that properly funds core government functions such as border security. Hardworking taxpayers make tough spending decisions to stay within their budget and expect their representatives will do the same when funding our massive federal government.
I remain concerned about our nation’s debt and spending trajectory and that concern will be at the front of my mind in evaluating any potential budget/spending plans. I pledge to continue to work hard on behalf of Florida’s hardworking taxpayers and families to advance common-sense reforms and principled policy and budgets that get our fiscal house in order.
