Overturned tractor trailer blocks traffic on Florida Turnpike in Sumter County

An overturned tractor trailer blocked traffic for several hours Thursday on the Florida Turnpike in Sumter County.

Orlando Gonzalez, 45, of Lake Worth had been at the wheel of the semi at 2:46 p.m. on the turnpike north of U.S. 301 when he came upon backed-up traffic and failed to stop, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

He lost control of the semi and it struck the outside guardrail before overturning. The trailer blocked  the southbound lanes of traffic for several hours.

Gonzalez was ticketed on a charge of careless driving.
