A 23-year-old resident of The Villages was arrested when he was found to be in possession of drugs.
Austin Lamanca-Hibbs, who lives at 917 Vasquez Ave. in the Village of Pine Ridge, had been driving a black BMW with Virginia plates at 11:27 p.m. Thursday when he was captured on radar traveling 73 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone on Morse Boulevard, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Initially, the BMW began to pick up speed, but eventually stopped at a security gate on Moyer Loop. When the deputy approached the car, the odor of marijuana was detected. A jar containing four grams of marijuana was found in a compartment in the driver’s door. Lamanca-Hibbs was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance.
He was arrested on drug possession charges and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. He was released after posting $3,000 bond.
