Man arrested in parking lot of La Hacienda Hotel in The Villages

A man spotted sleeping in his truck was arrested in the parking lot of La Hacienda Hotel in The Villages.

Joseph Jarrett Woods, 40, of Belleview, was spotted shortly after 8 a.m. Sunday sleeping in a white Chevy 1500 with an expired tag and a 16-inch diameter hole in the windshield, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Woods gave the police officer two different false names in an attempt to conceal his identity, the report said. The police officer ran the license plate, which came up with Woods’ name, and a check of his driver’s license photo proved to be a match. The officer also discovered Woods was wanted on outstanding warrants in Marion County. An inventory of the vehicle turned up a pill bottle that contained Xanax.

Woods was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and providing false information to a law enforcement officer. He was booked at the Lake County Jail on $3,000 bond.
