Jeffrey James Taylor

A 54-year-old resident of The Villages landed behind bars following his arrest Saturday night on a charge of driving under the influence.

Jeffrey James Taylor was booked at 8:29 p.m. at the Sumter County Detention Center. Bond was set at $1,000.

This is not his first scrape with the law.

Taylor was ordered to appear in Lake County Court in 2017 and was reportedly intoxicated when he was confronted by an employee over an unpaid bar tab at Orange Blossom Hills Country Club, according to a report from the Lady Lake Police Department. Taylor paid his tab and was reminded by the employee to take his phone and lighter with him. Then Taylor used profane language and punched the man in the mouth and jaw, the report indicated. Taylor was escorted from the building and left in a silver Mercedes. He was tracked down at a home on Aldama Avenue in the Village of De La Vista. He was issued a summons to appear in court to answer to a charge of battery.
