A 22-year-old woman was nabbed with marijuana and Xanax after a traffic stop on U.S. 301 in Oxford.
Elizabeth Marie Ryan, of Ocala, had been driving a white 2012 Nissan Sentra at 8:39 p.m. Sunday when she was pulled over for not having working taglights on U.S. 301 at County Road 104, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. Ryan would not roll down the window when the deputy approached the vehicle and instead partially opened the car’s door. The deputy detected the odor of marijuana. Ryan admitted she had marijuana in the car and turned over a clear glass container that held marijuana and two marijuana cigarettes.
A search of her purse turned up Alprazolam, also known as Xanax, for which Ryan did not have a prescription.
Ryan was arrested on a felony charge of drug possession, as well as a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession.
She was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting $4,000 bond.
