Representatives for 7-Eleven have completely pulled out of a plan for a convenience store at County Road 466 and Rolling Acres Road.
“The project at this time is not going forward and will not be on the Jan. 23 agenda,” Town Manager Kristen Kollgaard said in an email to Lady Lake Commission members.
The plan had raised eyebrows when it was unveiled late last year. The intersection is heavily traveled and emergency responders are frequently dispatched there due to numerous accident.
Commissioners Dan Vincent and Paul Hannan had already expressed their intent to stand in opposition to the the proposed 7-Eleven. Vincent said he was tired of broken promises regarding funding for upgrades for Rolling Acres Road. Hannan said he believes Lady Lake already has enough gas stations.
The attorney who had been shepherding the Lady Lake 7-Eleven project has been serving on Gov. Ron DeSantis’ transition team.
