James Francis Vaughan Jr.

James Francis Vaughan, Jr., 68, of The Villages, FL formerly of Norfolk and Virginia Beach, VA passed from this life Wednesday, December 26, 2018.

Born in Norfolk, VA he was the son of the late James F. Vaughan and Ruth L. (Chamblee) Vaughan. He was an Army veteran.

James was a retired 34 year crane operator for the Department of Defense and worked at the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, VA. He was a 50 year member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, the Norfolk Elks Lodge #38, Chesapeake Bay Ambassadors and the Circus Saints and Sinners all of Norfolk.

He was an avid Harley-Davidson bike rider and collector. He loved boating, surfing, fishing, water and snow skiing.

James and his beloved wife of 47 years came to The Villages from Norfolk, VA in 2017.

Beside his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Paul R. Vaughan.

He leaves his wife Mary J. (Oliver) Vaughan; brothers, Donald E. Vaughan and wife Joy of Snug Harbor, NC; Robert C. Vaughan and wife Vickie of Millersville, DE; a sister-in-law, Susan Vaughan of Norfolk, VA and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Norfolk Elks Lodge #38, 1231 Typo Ave., Norfolk, VA on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 1 p.m

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://alz.org).
