Lady Lake man to answer in court after caught with marijuana during traffic stop

A Lady Lake man will have to answer in court after he was caught with marijuana during a traffic stop.

Jerris Ray Dunaway, 35, had been riding as a passenger in a vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Lady Lake Boulevard and Arlington Avenue, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The female driver said there were no illegal substances in the vehicle, but denied police the opportunity to search her car. A K-9 unit was summoned to the scene and the dog alerted on the vehicle, indicating the likely presence of drugs.

A search of Dunaway turned up 2.9 grams of marijuana and a pipe for smoking marijuana.

He was issued a notice to appear Jan. 23 in Lake County Court to answer to a charge of marijuana possession.
