Police called to ‘heated’ dispute involving shopping cart and customer on scooter

Police were called to a “heated” dispute involving a man pushing a shopping cart and a woman on a motorized scooter.

The 40-year-old resident of The Villages had been riding in a motorized scooter at about 10 a.m. Tuesday in the meat section of Sam’ Club when the dispute broke out, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department. A 75-year-old Yahala man claimed the woman had nearly struck his shopping cart and had not been “looking where she was going.” He was trying to get to the roast beef when he “became angry” and pushed the woman’s scooter to the side while she was seated in it. The woman told police the dispute was over the “right of way.”

There were no arrests.
